The BluePrint Automation Group Opens Colorado Based Comapny
New company to focus on vision guided robotics
for the packaging industry.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA - July 9, 2003
ROBOTIC SOLUTIONS, a member of The BluePrint Automation Group,
opened June 1, 2003 in Boulder, Colorado with 50+ years of combined
experience in vision-guided robotics. The goal of Robotic Solutions
is to provide high-speed automated systems for the consumer goods
industry, utilizing vision guidance where necessary to handle randomly
oriented products. Robotic Solutions will also provide support for
existing robotic equipment currently in the field.
BRIEF HISTORY:
There is an identified requirement in the packaging automation market
for high-speed vision guided robotics. Prior to becoming part of
the new BP Robotics Solutions group, our highly qualified technical
group worked for the ABB integration division in Colorado. This
division was mainly specialized in applications that involved the
world’s fastest robot-concept: The Delta Robot, also known
as the “FlexPicker” from ABB, integrated with sophisticated
vision.
Now That ABB is refocusing their efforts on the sale of robots
through OEM partners, there is a void in the market for supporting
US companies with this technology. BP Robotic Solutions fills this
void by continuing the existing experience base in Colorado and
combining it with the considerable packaging automation and systems
integration capability of the worldwide BluePrint Automation Group.
This new venture has great strategic importance for BluePrint overall.
There are more and more applications such as “Variety Packs”
where the ability to deal with non-oriented products being delivered
to the system is critical. Vision, paired with ultra high-speed
robotics, such as the Delta Robot, provides a perfect solution for
these types of applications.
With Robotic Solutions in operation, the BluePrint Automation Group
can now focus on applications that involve the handling of unpackaged
products (e.g. putting sandwich cookies together; loading of frozen
meat, fish or poultry into trays; loading of frozen products into
a flow-wrapper; etc.); as well as assembly of “kitted”
products (e.g. loading of pouched product into a meal tray).
According to Martin Prakken, CEO of the BluePrint Automation Group:
“Our people have developed a very innovative and cost effective
package that utilizes Cognex’s “In-Sight” vision
system. The Cognex “In-Sight” system is a very common,
yet robust and powerful, vision package that has become the standard
for many companies. We believe this accessible solution will compete
well with the “black-box” systems used by our competition.”
“We feel that the BluePrint Automation Group will become
an even stronger force in the packaging market because of our new
venture.”
ABOUT THE PARENT COMPANY:
BluePrint Automation was founded in 1980 with the focus of providing
automatic end-of-line case packers for flexible bags. The company
has quickly grown to a multinational packaging automation company
with full service manufacturing facilities in Virginia and the Netherlands.
BluePrint Automation focuses on supplying fully integrated, turnkey
systems for applications that involve the "loading of flexible
bags and hard to handle packages into secondary containers, such
as cases, trays, cartons, crates and masterbags!” A total
system that takes control of the package as soon as it leaves the
Form, Fill & Seal operation and takes it all the way through
Palletizing; from the filler to the truck!
